Whoever you are, wherever you are on life's journey,
YOU ARE WELCOME HERE.
What We Do
Jesus didn't come to start a religion; he came to start a relationship.
Gather in Community
The cornerstone of our life as a church, we come together on Sundays from 10-11:15 for worship, and a coffee hour afterwards. There's no dress code, creed, or belief system you need to have to join us, and no one will pressure you to participate in anything you don't want to do. We take Communion every Sunday, but you don't need to be a member to participate, nor do you need to be baptized, confirmed, or even a professed Christian. Jesus welcomed everyone, and so do we!
Study. Serve. Connect.
We're a church in transition, but a life of faith isn't just going to worship on Sundays. Our gratitude to God means we act as God's hands in the world, and our faith grows in community. From Bible study to book groups to social justice activism, get connected at Campbell UCC.
The United Church of Christ
God is still speaking...
Our tradition is rooted in social justice and emphasizes education, and our motto is, "Never place a period where God has placed a comma." The UCC is Congregational in nature, meaning that although we have the advantage of being part of a larger body, each individual community has the freedom to question and determine for itself what it means to be the church.
Music, fellowship, possibly cookies.
First, we had some of the best singer-songwiters in the country come though via our Lighted Window Concert Series. Then, we began our own fledgling community theatre with Talkbacks afterwards, and that's been wildly successful too. Now, we're broadening our horizons to include community karaoke, mystery theatre and more! Get tickets for the latest events here.
Who We Are
We don't have all the answers, but we sure like to discuss the questions!
Lauren is our Bridge Pastor: while we look for an Interim Pastor, she's keeping the ship running! She got her Masters of Divinity from Emory's Candler School of Theology in 2013 and is currently writing a book about feminism and religion, due out for publication with Beacon Press. If you want to get your face melted off with enthusiasm, ask her about her dogs, Cerberus and Nyx. Contact her here.
Christian Hansen is our part-time Office Administrator. He is a student at Arizona State University where he is studying Healthy Lifestyle Coaching, Religious Studies, and Film & Media. He has been attending CUCC since 2011. He enjoys working with the youth and playing hockey. He can be reached here.
Susan Hough can't seem to decide what to be when she grows up, which she's in no hurry to do. She studied Mechanical Engineering and Acoustic Signal Processing, and has worked in high tech and education. These days she mostly educates voters for the League of Women Voters, sings with the Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, and tutors students in math and science. She's been a member of Campbell UCC since about 1988. Currently, she hangs out in the soprano section of the choir.
Ruth Huber was instrumental in founding both the Rainbow Women's Chorus (where she is co-Director and composer-in-residence) and Tapestry Singers (the Austin Women's Chorus). She holds three music degrees, including a Master of Music in Composition from the San Francisco Conservatory, and has studied conducting at San Jose State University. She resides in San Jose with her wife, Brenda, and an assortment of adorable cats.
Sunday School Lead
Jen has been a member of CUCC since 1993. When she's not joining us for worship or running Sunday School, for the last sixteen years Jen has been Head Toddler Teacher for CCLC Preschool in Sunnyvale. She's been blessed with three beautiful and amazing children and loves books, music and the ocean.
Larry Ong joined the staff as Bookkeeper and Sunday-morning reception in August, 2006.
